Tomorrow the Window Collapses

Featuring three young artists who were born and raised in Bandung, Tomorrow the Window Collapses presents explorations and musings on the very idea of an image itself. How have computational processes transformed our idea of a brushstroke? In what way have digital tools redefine the idea of laminations and accumulations? How do forms manifest themselves authentically as images?

Through processes that ranges from rewriting algorithms to painstakingly compositing images, the three artists prompt questions on craft and materiality in relationship to the contemporary obsession of the screen. Amidst the proliferation of computationally produced images and the deluge of visions, Tomorrow the Window Collapses recognizes that an image can be touched; transformed into potentiality, statements, and expressions.

Perkembangan teknologi acap kali mengubah pola perilaku manusia sebagai penggunanya. Dalam ranah artistik, pengaruh perkembangan teknologi terhadap metode penciptaan karya seni nampak paling jelas dalam eksplorasi seni media. Meskipun begitu, ketertarikan untuk tetap mempertahankan metode atau gagasan seni konvensional tidak sepenuhnya dapat dilepaskan. Tomorrow the Window Collapses merupakan sebuah perhelatan yang mengusung metode sintesis antara pemanfaatan teknologi Abad ke-21 dengan pemahaman estetika seni modern. Gagasan visual non-representasional yang populer di periode seni modern menjadi pijakan bagi tiga seniman yang masing-masing mengolah metode mutakhir yang berbeda.

The development of technology often changes human behavior as its user. In the artistic realm, the influence of technological developments on methods of art making appears most clearly in the exploration of media art. However, the interest in maintaining a conventional method or idea of art is not entirely detachable. Tomorrow the Window Collapses is an event which carries a synthesis method between the use of 21st century technology with the understanding of modern art aesthetics. The idea of non-representational image, which was popular in the periods of modern art, becomes the foundation for three artists, each of whom develops different sophisticated methods.
